Seafood Expo Global 2026

Seafood Expo Global, the world’s largest seafood trade fair, is April 21-23 in Barcelona, Spain.
While SFP will not have a stand at the Expo this year, we will have several staff members onsite, participating in events, panels, and meetings. See below for more information on SFP’s activities at the Expo this year.

Scaling Sustainable Blue Foods: Policy, Technology, and Market Insights

PANEL: Tuesday, April 21, 2:00-2:45 p.m., Room CC5.3

This panel will explore the latest developments in sustainable blue food policies and strategies, highlighting emerging tools and technologies that are transforming the blue food landscape. The panelists will share successful examples and best practices from the field, discussing opportunities for industry, from improved traceability and climate accounting to market access and diversification. They will also share practical examples and insights on scaling sustainable solutions across the seafood sector.

Worker engagement in seafood: Identification, assessment and recommendations for improvements to worker engagement mechanisms

PANEL: Tuesday, April 21, 3:00-3:45 p.m., Room CC5.1

This panel will look at the partnership between the Certification and Ratings Collaboration (of which SFP is a member) and the Issara Institute to understand the realities of current and potential worker engagement mechanisms and worker access to these mechanisms in five key seafood-producing countries in Asia. Panelists will discuss the current state of worker awareness of rights in the seafood sector, the effectiveness of existing mechanisms, barriers to effective grievance mechanisms, and recommendations for strengthening systems for the benefit of both workers and responsible businesses. They will also touch on guidance developed by the Collaboration for the seafood industry (and other key stakeholders) to improve support for workers.

Industry leadership in small-scale fisheries management: Roles for the supply chain

PANEL: Wednesday, April 22, 2:45-3:30 p.m., Room CC5.1

This panel will bring together leaders from retail, processing, and on-the-ground supply chain actors to show what industry leadership looks like in practice, and how collaborative fisheries management models, in which industry supports (not replaces) government management can make responsible small-scale fisheries possible.

Discussions will focus on science-based solutions that promote ocean stewardship, inclusive solutions, and welfare-friendly practices to future-proof the seafood sector.

Integrated strategies for stakeholder engagement and supply chain leverage: A roadmap for landscape-level sustainability in aquaculture

PANEL: Thursday, April 23, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Room CC5.1

In this session, SFP and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) will look back on two years of collaboration in the shrimp farming sector of Andhra Pradesh, India. The panelists will discuss the SFP/ASC “Roadmap for Landscape-Level Improvements in Aquaculture” that came out of this collaboration and explore ways to build on its foundation and capitalize on future opportunities to implement landscape-level aquaculture strategies in Andhra Pradesh and around the world.
