What is it?
Proforest is a non-profit group supporting companies, governments, civil society, and other organizations to work towards the responsible production and sourcing of agricultural and forest commodities.
- Building a business case for investment in landscape initiatives, to understand their supply base and identify priority landscapes:
- Identifying the key issues and long-term impact needed, the scale of investment needed, and whether to get involved with existing initiatives:
- Baseline assessments and analysis, and bringing together different stakeholders within a landscape to help companies align their activities and interventions to have a bigger impact.
- Understanding how to monitor, measure, and report actions and impact from landscape programs, and how to ensure the local ownership and long-term viability of any landscape initiative.
What is it?
Proforest assists with landscape and jurisdictional initiatives that bring together government, companies, and communities to drive transformative change in deforestation, smallholder livelihoods, respect for Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and labor issues.
They currently have a portfolio of a dozen landscape initiatives, including those involving palm oil.
