Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT)
Global
What is it?
IBAT is a tool to identify risk in sourcing areas for terrestrial ingredients bringing together constantly updated data from the IUCN red list of threatened species, Protected Planet’s world database on protected areas, and the world database of key biodiversity areas.
As part of the subscription package, IBAT provides metrics (star scores) on the relative potential of an area to contribute to reducing species extinction risk through either threat abatement or restoration activities for any 5x5km grid cell, and a rarity-weighted richness for ~10 km2 grid cells.
How to use it
Metrics can be used as indicators of biodiversity significance within sourcing locations.
