Welcome to the very first Advisory Services blog, where we will offer you a behind-the-scenes look at our tools and services. This is your backstage pass, providing exclusive insights into the thought processes, innovations, and day-to-day adventures that define our journey.
My name is Mercedes Mendoza, and I am thrilled to be here connecting with you. As the Advisory Services Director at Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), I’ve had the incredible privilege of being part of a team that is passionate about helping the seafood industry improve the sustainability of their supply and the health of our oceans. With a background in aquaculture and research in ecotoxicology, I’ve also dived into the market of frozen seafood, blending scientific insight with hands-on industry experience.
Let me introduce you to our team
Dearg Stobie is our Data Systems Director. He oversees SFP’s technical databases for quantitative fisheries data and manages staff involved in their design and maintenance. With a background in IT support at SFP for seven years and two decades teaching mathematics and computer science globally, Dearg is a seasoned professional who brings a wealth of expertise to his role.
Martin Bello, part of the Advisory Services team, facilitates data entries and communications between Seafood Metrics users, including SFP partners. Before joining SFP, Martin worked for the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), where he collected scientific data to ensure compliance with conservation recommendations. Martin has also contributed to a deep-sea fishing project with Tragsatec.
Yohanes “Dono” Ekodono spearheads the development and maintenance of SFP’s Seafood Metrics and Terra systems, overseeing analysis, system design, coding, and software testing. With experience in diverse organizations using stacks like NodeJS, Ruby on Rails, Python, PHP, and various back-end-related technologies, including NOSQL, Dono brings a wealth of technical expertise.
