SFP today launched a new website dedicated to showcasing all of the fishery improvement projects (FIPs) currently in operation around the world.

The website – called The FIP Directory – allows users to view details of existing projects, add their own FIPs and access useful resources such as practical guides and videos. The website features 79 projects led by different non-governmental organisations as well as many commercial companies. The website can be found at: http://www.fisheryimprovementprojects.org

Commenting on the launch of the website, Blake Lee-Harwood, Communications Director at SFP, said: “Many people have told us how much they want a list of all the fishery improvement projects in the world so we set out to try and achieve just that. The FIP Directory is not yet totally comprehensive but we hope that people will send us details of their projects and we can build a website that features virtually all of the FIPs worldwide.” He continued: “The FIP Directory is intended to be a platform to publicize the good work going on in fishery improvement projects and to win attention for an important global trend in managing seafood resources more sustainably. The Directory is also a useful way of creating a web presence for new FIPs that might not have dedicated websites.”
