  • Introduction
    SFP’s Global Fisheries Program operates globally to rebuild depleted fish stocks and reduce the environmental and social impacts of fishing and fish farming by engaging fishery stakeholders and seafood businesses. To do so, SFP works at different levels of the supply chain to enlist industry support to fisheries improvements. Through SFP Supply chain roundtables (SRs), major buyers and importers in a specific seafood sector work together pre-competitively to scale-up individual efforts for global reach and trigger positive impact in sustainability performance and human wellbeing.
  • Objectives of the consultancy:
    The consultant will utilize his/her background knowledge on fisheries and seafood markets to support SFP’s Global Mahi, Global Squid, Global Octopus and Indonesia Snapper Grouper SRs.
  • Responsibilities:
    Using the consultant’s expertise in fisheries and seafood markets the consultant will provide services to SFP, including,
  1. Support to SR leads operational and secretariat roles, with tasks such as meeting planning (preps, attendance and post), taking meeting minutes, logistics and liaison support with SR members, helping collecting and sharing documents, setting agendas, sharing announcements, general communications, updating SR webpages and other outreach, keeping contact lists up to date.
  2. Provide data and information analyses, such as catch and landings data analyses, market intel and supply flows in key fisheries, stakeholder and supply chain mapping, preparing desk work and literature reviews to serve as background to development of technical briefings, strategy development and program implementation.
  3. Perform other related tasks as SFP may request from time to time, such as support with English-Spanish translations.
  • Professional profile
  1. Fisheries, marine biologist or related field, with one or more years of professional experience; Masters level preferred.
  2. Familiarity with existing seafood sustainability standards, including certifications and assessment systems for sustainable fisheries.
  3. Experience and knowledge in data collection and analysis methodologies.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  5. Familiarity with the advanced use of information systems for teleworking.
  6. Excellent analytical and writing skills, plus excellent presentation or presentation skills.
  7. Proven ability to summarize complex information and data, and capabilities to write reports based on robust evidence.
  8. Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) to Spanish-speaking fishery stakeholders is preferred. Primarily for providing support as needed to translate documents and assist with virtual meetings in English-Spanish.
  9. Proficient in the use of PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  10. Knowledge or willing to be trained in use of Salesforce and Panjiva
  11. Experience using Google Docs and Sheets, Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, and other office/communication tools

Contract duration:  Contract for 12 months.
